BELIEF

I have learned that what I believe evolves over time. When I began to understand Georg Cantor, Alan Turing and what emergence from complexity says about entropy, I discovered that I had no free will, that reality was a deterministic illusion, I was then forced to believe in God. I believe in God not by faith but by a certainty based on logic and reason, this understanding began my quest, to know what was Gods' intention?

The Platonic account of Sophia, the desire to know the unknowable, this is us when we contemplate God.  Alan Turing said,  "We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done."  and every day like Sysiphus we do plenty, only to find the next day with plenty more to do.  Yet, do any of us know why?

In this we are like the Demiurge, an architect building reality from a set of plans, thinking we are in control when in fact we are not capable of understanding this reality, nor the complexity we call God.

For me, I find God in the attempt to understand the word "good,"  because my God must rest in those acts of kindness and compassion. This concept is difficult for me to understand in the face of all the suffering that I see. Understanding requires me to keep learning, constantly evolving and reshaping my view of God. For me God is not a fixed dogma, but a fluid, endless stream of insight. I see God in the Platonist concept of intelligence, or Nous, a necessary step toward glimpsing an unknowable reality. The more I learn, the more I understand myself and the complex reality I live within. The more I examine my life, the more I know myself, and this permits me to know God a little better. I have come to know God through a deeper understanding of the meaning of the word 'good.' The better I can define what good means, the better I can understand God's intentions.

This is why a monastic life, withdrawn from society and desire, while devoted to uncovering the unknown, holds such profound appeal for me.

Kant, Schopenhauer, and the Problem of Evil

Studies:

We are the cause of the problem.

Studies:

Because we think we are far more than an ape, we have let the instincts of a jackal  drive our history.  Just like animals we compete for mates, we have built civilization, the fundamentals of economics, families and war on the basis of sexual competition.

Language, reason and rational thought is what separates us from other animals, yet for most of our history we have not used these skills other than to take advantage of the other.  We have distorted our history in order to dominate over a servant class, and to promote slavery as a social construct.

We act and live out our lives according to what we believe. Since our beliefs are based on false premises, we produce a dysfunctional society. If we correct this problem, all other problems will go away.

This is the way the world ends Not with a bang but a whimper.

Studies:

It's my hope that this will be a true statement. That the world as we know it will end and a transformation so great occurs that the old world will be unrecognizable.

Permit me to play the oracle, Jesus Christ was correct the meek will inherit the earth.

Knowing what we know about human nature this information will construct a future that operates on altruism rather than greed.

Eternal Life, the infinite moment

Ghosts

Studies:

I once watched a captivating documentary about a tribe in Venezuela that still follows primitive ways of living along a river. In this tribe, a Shaman or Witch Doctor played a crucial role in removing evil spirits from people. Engaging in elaborate rituals involving sounds and movements, the Shaman would perform these acts over individuals suffering from illness. The climax of the ritual involved presenting a small plastic toy, claiming it had been extracted from the affected person's body.

The belief in these occurrences was widespread among the tribe due to their limited exposure to external information. It's a stark reminder that wisdom isn't necessarily acquired through wealth or modern knowledge,  we can be as superstitious primitive jungle dwellers. In various societies, even today, there are people who believe in supernatural phenomena like ghosts, and there are those who exploit these beliefs for personal gain.

Inmortality

Studies:

The devil is in the details... Rather god is in the details

Studies:

If we have freewill then it would be represented through our understanding of the past. What gives us cause to change or correct our future is what we believe to be past events. Justice would therefore require a truthful understanding of past events otherwise we are governed by false assumptions. In the event our understanding of history is false, then we can not have freewill, rather we would be governed by a lie.

The devil is in the details... Rather God is in the details
