Noah

The famous story about the Great Flood is best known from the Bible (Genesis 6-9).

It has always been known that there were similar stories from Greece and Rome (like the ones by Apollodorus, Ovid, and Hyginus), but in the nineteenth century, several texts from ancient Iraq were added. The first discovery was Tablet XI of the Babylonian Epic of Gilgameš (in 1872), the second the Sumerian original, now called the Eridu Genesis (1914), and the third the Epic of Atrahasis (1956). It is now clear that the Biblical account stays close to a Babylonian model.

Deuteronomy 23: 7 Do not hate Egyptians, they will enter the Kingdom of God

7Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.
8The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the LORD in their third generation.

Deuteronomy 23: 19-22 loans, usery ok to others

Writen in the time of Moses 1400 BC

Deuteronomy 23: 19-22

19Thou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of any thing that is lent upon usury:

20Unto a stranger thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

Duteronomy 15 23 Banking and Loans not from your kind, from others its ok

Written at the time of Moses 1450BC? Jesus Christ fundamentally changes this. First by his total rejection of wealth, and second by the inclusion of all into the new covenant he has given us with God. Today we find so much suffering that is caused by our banking system.  We should all be attentive to the word of Christ  to guide us through this crisis.

Ezekiel 8:14-18 Tammuz babylonian God

14Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
15Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these.
16And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD's house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

Assyria

2080- 609 BC After the fall of the Akkadian Empire circa 2080 BC, it eventually coalesced into two separate nations; Assyria in the north, and later Babylonia in the south. The last known Assyrian king, Ashur-uballit II, held out at Harran from 612 BC until 609 BC, but was overrun by the Babylonians and Medes
