I once watched a captivating documentary about a tribe in Venezuela that still follows primitive ways of living along a river. In this tribe, a Shaman or Witch Doctor played a crucial role in removing evil spirits from people. Engaging in elaborate rituals involving sounds and movements, the Shaman would perform these acts over individuals suffering from illness. The climax of the ritual involved presenting a small plastic toy, claiming it had been extracted from the affected person's body.
The belief in these occurrences was widespread among the tribe due to their limited exposure to external information. It's a stark reminder that wisdom isn't necessarily acquired through wealth or modern knowledge, we can be as superstitious primitive jungle dwellers. In various societies, even today, there are people who believe in supernatural phenomena like ghosts, and there are those who exploit these beliefs for personal gain.
