Eve and Isis

During the formative centuries of Christianity, the religion of Isis drew converts from every corner of the Roman Empire. In Italy itself, the Egyptian faith was a dominant force. At Pompeii, archaeological evidence reveals that Isis played a major role. In Rome, temples were built and obelisks erected in her honour. In Greece, traditional centres of worship in Delos, Delphi, and Eleusis were taken over by followers of Isis, and this occurred in northern Greece and Athens as well. Harbours of Isis were to be found on the Arabian Sea and the Black Sea.

Pythagoreanism

The Pythagorean school, flourished about 530 B.C. Very little is known about the life and personality of Pythagoras.
Besides prescribing the rules that were to govern the society, Pythagoras taught:
1. A doctrine of transmigration of souls which he probably borrowed from the Bacchic and Orphic mysteries, the doctrine being religious and ethical, intended to show, by successive incarnations of the soul in the bodies of different animals a system by which certain vices and virtues were to be punished and rewarded after death;
2. The doctrine that mathematics contains the key to all philosophical knowledge, which developed into an elaborate number-theory by his followers.
3. The notion that virtue is a harmony, and may be cultivated not only by contemplation and meditation but also by the practice of gymnastics and music.

Druids

The prototypes for classical druidry probably originated in the early Celtic peoples of the neolithic Hallstadt/La Tene cultures of the lakes regions of modern Austria.
Druids are believed to have retained their vast body of knowledge in an oral tradition.
Strabo tell of noisy Druid night-festivals, carousing in the streets, entire families turning out to sing and out-sing their neighbours, in honour of the full moon,

Egyptian Religion

Theologians like the Egyptian Priests, and Metaphysicians like Proclus,
believed firmly in these lunar influences.
"The Egyptians," says Diodorus Siculus, "acknowledged two great
gods, the Sun and Moon, or Osiris and Isis, who govern the world and
regulate its administration by the dispensation of the seasons . . . .

It is a fascinating how the person of the woman has both been cast as evil as well as holy. The Catholic adoration of the Virgin Mary is possibly the continuation of the adoration Isis, Ishtar, Sophia and Venus deity.

Set vs Hours, Seth vs Cain

Central names of two creation stories of these religions of neighboring states. As Genesis tells the story, Seth which means “set in place of” Cain, is the replacement of Able. When Seth was 105 years old, his son Enosh was born and from him comes what is sometimes called “the godly line of Seth” that leads to Abraham.

Egyptian theology gives us Set as the usurper who killed and mutilated his own brother Osiris. Isis rebuilds Osiris to give birth to Horus. Set, what is Evil is then in a continuous battle with Horus.

One aspect of this website/book considers the Egyptian creation story and compares this to the formulation of Genesis and Exodus. If the line of  Abraham comes from Set, the Egyptians would make the comparison to Set. Horus would have been victorious in this battle by placing the people of Set/Seth in Canaan as the unknowing defenders of the Egyptian homeland.
